Parenthood
A wide-eyed father looks upon a fragile newborn,
caressing body and hair,
a serene mother, radiant with bliss,
embracing her with care.
The present—in this alone.
In this couple’s life, the change is swift,
and from that moment on, all but giving gone.
Pure giving, pure gift.
